Interest rates jumped .5% this week after an announcement made by the FED. How is this impacting home buyers?

First, let's talk about why it happened:

Rates are going up rapidly because the FED is no longer buying bonds or mortgage backed securities because the economy is getting better.

They originally began purchasing mortgage-backed securities (MBS) with a large government program, and the added demand for these types of backings has kept mortgage rates historically low.

In recent months, a few factors have decreased demand for these securities: unemployment rates are decreasing, forecasts for the economy are improving, and people have more confidence in the real estate market and are starting to enter it again.
