An inventory decrease in new home listings slowed down the rate of sales for November 2013. Although home sales are still very strong, they did not manage to surpass the sales numbers of last November. The main reason for the inventory decrease is not that there was a shortage of new listings. In fact, new home listings entering that market have been up for the last six months. The decrease is a result of an increasing number home listings that have expired. Home Sales are on The Rise
After a small decline of almost 6% September; new home sales shot up in October despite higher interest rates. Sales of newly built single family homes rose more than 25% from September and overall sales from October 2012 were up almost 22%. The biggest news to come out for October is that sales rose in ALL Regions! The general consensus among most real estate professionals is that the only reason for the decline in September was because of the uncertainty that the government shutdown presented. As the rates fell back and the shutdown ended, so did any declining sales figures.
