The 4th of July "Clawson-Style"

Clawson is steeped in pride with its annual community events and the city is bustling with its preparations for another annual 4th of July bash.  Clawson's enormous heart and patriotic pride shine brightly every single year, probably the number one reason why this fantastic place is known as "the Little City with a Big Heart!" Clawson remains unparalleled in its many celebratory festivities and events and a Clawson-Style 4th of July is sure to become an annual event for you and your family.  Attend once and you will be hooked forever!

Enjoy a glorious morning at Clawson United Methodist Church for the delicious Herb Glenn Memorial pancake breakfast from 7:00-11:00 a.m.  This is a wonderful way to meet the great people of Clawson and get a feel for what this big-hearted town is all about.  Enjoy the commencement of this great day with a flag raising ceremony at Blair Memorial Library scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

July 4th features an amazing Arts & Crafts Fair from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. where patrons enjoy shopping the samplings of over eighty-five diverse, local vendors.

The Midways Games & Rides is also scheduled for the same day and time and a mere $2.00 entry fee allows you to enjoy a fabulous display of some of the most colorful fireworks in Southeast Michigan as well as balloons and talented bands.

Whatever you do, don’t miss The Firecracker Mile!  Whether you are racing for a cash prize, trophy, medal, or for the pure joy of the high you get from a good run, this is definitely the race for you!  At least $1,000 in prizes are awarded to Firecracker racers each year!  Not a runner?  Than this a great opportunity to pour your heart and soul into cheering on some incredible athletes at 9:00 a.m.  If you would like to be involved despite your lack of athletic prowess, consider volunteering at registration, as a road guard, or a split timer.  For more information, e-mail Registration fees are extremely reasonable, so join the league of racers today at !

Nothing gives a patriot more pride in his country that an uplifting 4th of July parade and Clawson does it right!  The Clawson 4th of July parade is attended by thousands of patriots all over Michigan as well as surrounding states.  The parade begins at Crooks, travels down Fourteen Mile to Main, and then to Elmwood before making its grand exit in Clawson City Park.  The parade is flooded with colorful balloons, festive floats, joyous clowns, and majestic marching bands.  This spectacular event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

The 12:00 p.m. hour launches the beginning of Clawson softball games!  Children ages nine and ten can enjoy a friendly game of softball at 12:00 p.m. and children ages eleven and twelve are welcome to participate at 1:30 p.m.  The Junior Boys All-Star Game begins at 2:00 p.m. and the Co-Ed All-Star You Softball, full of age 13-14 teammates, is awaiting your attendance at 2:45 p.m.

If you still have energy and are remain hungry for the thrill of entertainment, you are sure to be amazed at the 1:00 p.m. “Clawson Verses Troy Fire Department Water Battle”!  Come cheer on the Clawson Fire Department as they douse the Troy Fire Department in this annual WET event!

Just as a perfect beginning deserves a perfect ending, so a perfect day should conclude in exquisit perfection.  The greatest fireworks display in the tri-county area is scheduled to take place at 10:00 p.m.  Bring your children, girlfriend, parents, relatives, friends, and neighbors because they will surely thank you afterward.  This event is truly spectacular and never disappoints and it has been said that this special event has provided the launchpad for many life-long, happy relationships.

This “Little City” truly does have a “Big Heart” and the warmth and love that only a close-knit community can provide is sure to rub off on you as you begin your new annual 4th of July traditions in Clawson.
