Technology Making Things Easier

In the last 10 years we have seen some profound changes in technology, these changes have helped the real estate market reach new heights in both productivity and results. We are going to review a few of these technological changes and why they matter but don’t worry we will keep the technical jargon to the minimum.

In the past if you wanted to buy or sell a property you had to deal with an agent who would have a limited amount of inventory available. These agents had to work really hard to identify suitable properties that matched your needs and requirements. The multiple listing service (MLS) changed the world in a profound way, now you can simply go online and look at properties that are for sale anywhere in North America from the comfort of your home. What you do is type in your search criteria and in a few seconds all of the homes that match your requirements are at your fingertips.

Another amazing advancement is the development of smartphones, now you can go online and look at properties for sale, check Email and have a video conference in real time I would love to see a pager do that…. you do remember pagers right ? :)

The biggest and arguably the best advantage associated with using this technology is being able to communicate with one another in real time. Before the development of smartphones you would have to drive into the office to check our messages and miss out on an opportunity. Also with technology whenever a prospective client is looking for a Realtor if your website is well structured and designed then your name will come up to the top of the search results.

We have saved the best for last in the discussion, social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter have changed the world in a profound way, now you have the ability to communicate with prospective clients and reach their circle of friends as well. Imagine all of the referrals you can generate from one satisfied client? The opportunities are virtually limitless. As you can see technology has made the real estate sector more accessible and that is great news for consumers who want to make a truly informed decision, what will the future hold no one knows for sure but thanks to this technology it will be more convenient.
