Winter has come. Now it’s time to think about how to maneuver out of the cold and into the warm! We’ve done some research and found recommendations for the best places to buy a winter home. If it turns out you can’t purchase a house, then it just might be a good place to go visit anyway. So enjoy the views and check out the places perhaps one could be the site of your next dream home!

Finger Lakes Region/Schuyler County N.Y.

Although it’s cold here now there are still a lot of local breweries, wineries and fine restaurants. You can snuggle up in the colder days, but enjoy the gorgeous views of the lakes surrounding you.

Franklin County/Apalachicola, Fla.

This cute getaway is the least populated county in Florida. Thus, allowing some of that old spirit of Florida to creep through. Although prices have crept up over time, it’s still an incredibly affordable place in Florida – and the sun is free.

 Houghton County and City, Mich.

That right  - it’s U.P. time! If skiing and snowmobiling are your thing then this area is for you. As one of the snowiest places in MI, it offers a wealth of winter sports activities. Not to mention the gorgeous landscape. It’s a fine place to tuck yourself away from the hustle and bustle of the real world.

Taos, N.M.

While Taos is a tad pricier than the other places on this list is has wonderful historical places to sight-see, various activities like ballooning, hiking, of course and all other outdoorsy activities you might seek.
